The Southern Ontario Sprints
concluded its 2010 season with a return trip to
Merrittville Speedway. It marked the first time the
tour had visited the Thorold, Ontario track since
2003. The winner the last time the SOS made a stop
there was Warren Mahoney.
The return trip for Dick Mahoney would be up
and down. In the 8 lap qualifying heat Mahoney started
5th and finished 4th. Come feature time the #79 would
start in the 12th position. When 20 laps were complete
Dick would find himself in the 14th spot. By finishing
one spot behind 6th place in points Jim Munsie, 'The
Pig' was able to lock down 5th in the final SOS
standings.
Kevin Job won the feature race while Glenn
Styres finished second. The runner-up spot helped
Styres clinch his 4th career SOS title over teammate
Keith Dempster.
The Southern Ontario Sprints have one weekend
of racing remaining on the tour schedule as teams turn
their attention to the 6th Annual Canadian Sprint Car
Nationals at Ohsweken Speedway.
Dick Mahoney would like to thank all of
his sponsors and supporters for a fun and successful
top-five season in SOS competition. For more information
