 After a week to forget at Brighton, the #79 headed to Merlin, Ontario for Round #2 of the Southern Ontario Sprints season. South Buxton Raceway was host to the SOS for the first of two dates in 2009.
Dick Mahoney and the #79 team came to the track with a new sponsor in LoadSurfer.com. For the qualifying heat Dick chose to start tail and finished in the sixth position. He then went into the SOS Dash for Cash and proved to be strong as he picked up the victory.
Mahoney would lineup 9th for the 20 lap main event. When all was said and done the #79 managed to gain one position for an 8th place finish. The top ten moved 'The Pig' into the 9th spot in SOS points after two events.
Dick and the #79 team will continue their 2009 campaign as the Southern Ontario Sprints head to Brighton Speedway on Saturday June 6th for Round #3. Race time in Brighton, Ontario is 7pm.
