DOUBLE HEADER PRODUCES DOUBLE HEADACHE FOR MAHONEY

The Southern Ontario Sprints had a two race weekend with stops at the Ohsweken Speedway and the Brighton Speedway. Dick Mahoney and the #79 crew had high hopes heading into the double header as they had their primary chassis back and the car reassembled after a hard flip back on July 8th at Brighton.

Friday night there were 35 cars on hand at Ohsweken which made making the A-main a difficult task. Dick managed to finish 4th in his heat race and transfer to the feature event. The 20 lap A-Main was anything but successful for Mahoney has he struggled home to a 16th place finish.

On Saturday night the teams headed east to the Brighton Speedway for round 10 of the 2006 season. Dick would face a handful of problems throughout the night giving him an 8th place finish in his heat and a 13th place finish in the A-main. He did however manage to move into 9th in the series standings after the weekend and sits 406 points behind new point leader Warren Mahoney.

Up next the SOS returns to the Humberstone Speedway on Sunday August 20th for their final visit to the 1/3 mile clay oval in Port Colbourne, Ontario.
