UP AND DOWN NIGHT FOR DICK MAHONEY AT OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY

After rain washed away the 20 lap feature at Brighton Speedway on Saturday July 12th on Clintar Groundskeeping night the Southern Ontario Sprints headed to the Ohsweken Speedway for their only stop at the Big O in 2008.

Things started off well for the #79 team as Dick Mahoney would start on the outside pole in the fourth qualifying heat race. Mahoney looked strong and was untouchable as he sailed to the win in the 8 lap affair.

Things would take a quick turn for the worse for Mahoney. The Pig would start the 20 lap A-Main in the third spot and after his performance in the qualifiers was hoping for a solid finish. Early in the feature however a piece of debris would fly up underneath the #79 causing a rupture to the oil pan. With the problem occurring so early in the feature Dick would finish 22nd in the 24 car field. The poor finished cost the team in the points standings where they now sit 6th overall and 145 markers back of first place Glenn Styres.

Dick Mahoney and the rest of the Southern Ontario Sprints will be back on the road on Saturday August 2nd at South Buxton Raceway. For more information visit www.southernontariosprints.com
