MAHONEY TAKES WILD RIDE AT BRIGHTON

The trip to the Brighton Speedway this past Saturday night was one that Dick Mahoney would probably just as soon forget.

Although the night would end on a bad note not all was bad. Dick ran out front in his 8 lap heat before being passed by eventual winner Glenn Styres. The #79 would finish second and qualify for the Dash for Cash in which he would finish fourth. The night was going well for 'The Pig' as he would start on the inside of the second row at the beginning of the feature event.

The good starting spot in the 20 lap A-Main would be short lived. At the drop of the green flag the front row got out of shape. Dick and a number of other cars checked up and bounced around making it through corners 1 and 2. However half way down the back stretch Dick made contact with another car and the results were not pretty. The #79 shot up into the air and rolled severely down the remainder of the back stretch and off of corner number three. Dick was able to climb from the car with only soreness to his shoulder. The car was not as fortunate.

Dick Mahoney and the #79 team will work hard this week to get back into action on Saturday July 15th at the South Buxton Raceway in Merlin, Ontario.
