The
last time that the Southern
Ontario Sprints were at the
Humberstone Speedway it was a
night to forget for Dick Mahoney
and the #79 team.
After
having troubles in his heat race
'The Pig' was unable to make the
B-Main thus missing the 20 lap
A-Main. This time around though
things went much better.
In
the first heat of the night Dick
Mahoney came out running strong.
He was smooth and steady and
piloted the car to a third place
finish behind the very fast cars
of Jim Davies and John Riegling. In
the 20 lap A-Main Dick would start
in the 4th position. The track
became dry and hard to pass on.
With only one caution during the
race it made it tough to make up
for lost ground. When all
was said and done Dick and the #79
team left Humberstone with a
respectable 14th place finish
while rookie Kevin Job won his
first career SOS A-Main.
Dick Mahoney and the #79 team
will get back into action on
Saturday July 8th at the Brighton Speedway in
Brighton, Ontario.
