DICK MAHONEY HAS SUCCESS DURING DOUBLE HEADER WEEKEND

The Southern Ontario Sprints ran their first double header weekend of the season and for the #79 team it seems like their fortunes are beginning to turn around.

On Friday night the SOS ran at the Ohsweken Speedway. 43 cars were in the pit area for the first race of the year at the Big O. Dick Mahoney came out flying in his heat and led to the checkered flag picking up his second heat win of the season. The feature wouldn't be as kind to Dick as the #79 would find itself 20th after all was said and done. Chuck Hebing went on to win the race over Warren Mahoney and Adam West.

The SOS then headed east for a Saturday night stop at the Brighton Speedway. Dick once again came out swinging and notched his third heat win of the year. In the 20 lap feature Rick Wilson would beat out Glenn Styres and Warren Mahoney to the line while the #79 team would grab a top ten finishing out in the 8th position. Dick now sits 16th in SOS points exactly 200 points behind leader Glenn Styres but only 62 points out of the top ten.

Dick Mahoney and the #79 team will get back into action on Sunday June 18th at the Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne, Ontario.
