The
Southern Ontario Sprints made
their first ever visit to the
Brockville Ontario Speedway on
Saturday May 31st. Although bad
weather threatened most of the
northeast and closed nearly every
race track in the region the event
at Brockville was not only
completed but a was a great
success.
The track was fast from the
beginning and Dick took a liking
to the facility instantly.
The #79 was strong throughout the
evening starting with the 8 lap
qualifying heat. Although Dick
would start 3rd and finish 4th in
his qualifier the car seemed to
work well and improved for the
feature.
When
the 20 lap main event rolled off
Dick started in the 12th position.
The action was fast and furious
and was slowed by just two
incidents. The second of which saw
Brian McDonald take a horrifying
crash into corner one yet walk
away unscathed. Dick would work
his way solidly into the top ten
and finished with an impressive
8th place finish in a field of
tough competitors.
Dick Mahoney and the rest of the
Southern Ontario Sprints will be
back on the road on Saturday June
14th at the Brighton Speedway. For
