MECHANICAL PROBLEMS CONTINUE TO PLAGUE DICK MAHONEY

A damp, cold and wet Victoria Day Weekend cut the first SOS double header of the season short. The scheduled action at the Ohsweken Speedway on May 19th was cancelled due to poor ground conditions. On Sunday it looked like the SOS was headed towards another wash out. Heavy cloud cover and the odd shower wouldn't keep the teams away from the Humberstone Speedway though. 38 sprint cars in total made the tow to the 1/3 mile clay oval.

Dick Mahoney made the haul to Port Colborne but his night would come to an abrupt end early. After spending the week working on the driveline the #79 wouldn't last past warm-ups before the entire driveline would once again cause problems. The failure would sideline Dick Mahoney from competing in the evenings action. Dick was able to help out fellow competitor Curt Sherwood though. During warm-ups Sherwood's car was hit by a push truck damaging the teams only top wing. Dick Mahoney lent the top wing to Sherwood. With that assistance Sherwood was not only able to compete but also qualify for the A-Main where he would finish 23rd.

Dick Mahoney and the #79 team will get back into action on Friday June 9th at the Ohsweken Speedway followed by a trip to the Brighton Speedway on Saturday June 10th.
