The
Southern Ontario Sprints got back
into action on Saturday May 12th
at the Brighton Speedway. The race
marked the beginning of the clubs
12th season in existence. Series
veteran Dick Mahoney was once
again back behind the wheel of his
#79 sprint car with the SOS on
this night.
After
a strong 2006 season which saw the
'Pig' return to victory lane the
momentum carried over to the start
of the new season. 24 cars were on
hand at Brighton and Dick would
roll out in the third of three
heats. He was strong out of the
gates and finished second in the
eight lap qualifier behind winner
Kevin Job.
For
the start of the 20 lap main event
Dick would roll off 5th on the
grid. After all was said and done
the #79 moved backwards but still
came away with a solid 12th place
finish on the night. Rick Wilson
took the win over Craig Downie and
Kyle Wilson. A top twelve finish
makes for a solid start on the
2007 as the team attacks the SOS
championship.
