Dick
Mahoney and the #79 team wrapped
up their 2008 season with a
running in the 4th Annual Canadian
Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken
Speedway. Weather pushed the event
back a couple of weeks but the
racing on the track was just as
exciting.
The two night affair meant
plenty of racing for 'The Pig' but
problems on the #79 would put a
damper on the weekend. On Friday
night if you didn't finish in the
top five of your heat the evening
was over. Unfortunately Dick
finished 8th and had to pack up
before the night had really
started. On Saturday night the
lone bright spot was having the
legendary Jack Hewitt in the pits
as an honourary crew member. The
car suffered from fuel pick-up
problems all evening and was
unable to qualify for the A-Main.
Due to post season cataract
surgery Dick will not be making
the season finale trip to
Brockville Ontario Speedway in
mid-October. He and the team
however would like to thank all of
their supporters, most importantly
their sponsors who help make it
all possible. Thanks goes to
